雨の多い小さなベルゲンはノルウェーで2番目に大きな街。作曲家 エドヴァルド・グリーグ、ヘヴィメタル、EDMが有名だが、アイリック・ボーのホームでもある。90年代初頭アイリックはスコーグというグループで活動した後、アーランド・オイエとキングス・オブ・コンビニエンスを結成する。2001年のデビュー・アルバム『クワイエット・イズ・ザ・ニュー・ラウド』はインディミュージック・シーンで起こるクワイエット・ムーブメントの先駆けとなった。研ぎ澄まされた、2本のアコギと穏やかなボーカル・ハーモニーが雰囲気を作るこのアルバムはコールドプレイらを手がけるケン・ネルソンによるプロデュースである。アジア、アメリカ、ヨーロッパをツアーした後、2004年にセカンド・アルバム『ライオット・オン・アン・エンプティ・ストリート』をリリース、グループ最大のヒットとなる「アイド・ラザー・ダンス・ウィズ・ユー」が収録されている。2009年にサード・アルバム『デクラレーション・オブ・ディペンデンス』はようやく日の目を見ることになるが、グループは依然として世界中でソールドアウト公演を続けている。
傍らアイリックは別の音楽プロジェクトにも携わり、2017年にコモードというバンドでデビュー・アルバム『アナログ・ダンス・ミュージック』をリリースし高い評価を受ける。

The small and rainy city of Bergen is the second largest in Norway. The home of Edvard Grieg, a strong metal-scene, two of the worlds biggest EDM-stars, but also the home of Eirik Glambek Bøe. In the early 90s Eirik played in a group called Skog (forest in english) and later on he and Erlend Øye formed the duo Kings of Convenience. With their 2001-debut album Quiet Is the New Loud Kings of Convenience immediateley left their mark – it actually became the start of a quiet movement in the world of indie music. Two guitars and soft vocal harmonies was the platform for the twelve sophisticated tracks, produced by Coldplay producer Ken Nelson. Kings of Convenience toured in Asia, US and Europe and released their second album Riot On An Empty Street three years later. That album included the bands most streamed hit to this date, «I´d rather dance with you». In 2009 Kings of Conveniences latest album saw the light of the day - Declaration of Dependence, but the band has continued to do sold out shows in many parts of the world. In 2013 for example they sold out the iconic Sydney Opera House.

Eirik have also been working with a musical project on the side all these years, and in 2017 Kommodes debut album, the critically acclaimed Analog Dance Music, finally came out.
